UVA-340+ and UVB-313EL+ Lamps for QUV Testers Now Available for Improved High-Irradiance Testing

What is the Improvement?

The new UVA-340+ and UVB-313EL+ lamps have higher outputs than standard UVA-340 and UVB-313EL lamps. The new lamps have extended lifetime warranties of 1500 hours at high irradiance (1.55 W/m2 /nm) and 750 hours at maximum irradiance (1.70 W/m2 /nm). The standard UVA-340 and UVB-313EL lamps will continue to be available. They will continue to be warranted for 8000 hours at typical irradiance levels. They are not warranted for high or maximum irradiance values.

Why did Q-Lab make this improvement?

Users requested lamps with guaranteed longer life when running at high irradiance levels.

What are you required to do?

● The spectral distribution of UVA-340+ lamps is identical to UVA-340 lamps.

> All CR10 calibration radiometers and UC1 handheld displays with UC10/UV Smart Sensors can properly calibrate both UVA-340 and UVA-340+ lamps.

> Users with irradiance-controlled testers (QUV/se, QUV/spray, QUV/spray/RP) should use the UVA-340+ lamps, and their results should not change.

> Users with QUV/basic testers may get more severe results using UVA-340+ lamps. A limited supply of UVA-340 lamps still exists for these Users.

● The spectral distribution of UVB-313EL+ lamps is slightly different from UVB-313EL lamps.

> CR10 calibration radiometers cannot be used to calibrate UVB-313EL+ lamps properly. CR10 users must upgrade to the Universal Calibrator system to use UVB-313EL+ lamps.

> UC1 Handheld Display software must be updated to version 1.040 or higher so that the option to calibrate “UVB -313EL+” lamps is available. This update is required for accurate calibration of UVB-313EL+ lamps.

> Users with irradiance-controlled testers (QUV/se, QUV/spray, QUV/spray/RP) testing at high irradiance (1.55 W/m2/nm) should use UVB-313EL+ lamps.

> Users with irradiance-controlled testers testing at typical irradiance (0.71 W/m2/nm) and Users with QUV/basic testers should continue to use UVB-313EL lamps.

Users with these testers may get more severe results using UVB-313EL+ lamps. A longer-term supply of UVB-313EL lamps still exists for these Users.
