Product Focus: Pharmacy Vaccine Refrigerators
Australian developed refrigerators for the safe storage of vaccines
Thermoline has specially developed pharmacy and vaccine refrigerators, suitable for retail pharmacies, medical centres, universities and veterinary hospitals where pharmacy and/or vaccine products are required to be stored safely. The complete range includes four economy models from 145 to 740 litres in capacity, and four premium models from 520 to 1150 litres in capacity.
Importance of specially designed pharmacy refrigerators
Vaccines are delicate biological substances that can become less effective or destroyed if they are either:
- allowed to get too warm, or
- exposed to direct sunlight or UV light, including fluorescent light
When vaccines are repeatedly exposed to temperatures outside the +2°C to +8°C range, the loss of potency is cumulative and cannot be reversed. Purpose-built vaccine refrigerators are important because they prevent these damaging events from occurring and therefore keep valuable and often life saving vaccines effective to use.
Note: Domestic refrigerators are not recommended for vaccine storage as they do not incorporate sufficient safety features and often have wide fluctuating temperature ranges.
Refrigerator temperature control
Temperature is precisely controlled electronically at +5°C in ambients up to 32°C. The digital display incorporates high (+8°C) and low (+2°C) temperature alarms, which emit visual and audible signals to notify the operator when an alarm has been activated. Connection to a building management system (BMS) is available.

Made to strict quality standards
The Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) is a quality assurance program aimed at raising the standards of service that pharmacies provide to the public. The program is based on business and professional standards developed by the Pharmacy Guild and other industry stakeholders.
Thermoline Pharmacy and Vaccine Refrigerators are approved by the Quality Care Pharmacy Program (QCPP) and follow strict quality standards to ensure the safe storage of valuable vaccines.
Added safety to protect your products
A low temperature, protective cut out (LTPC) can be fitted as an optional extra to prevent products inside the refrigerator from freezing (particularly important for the storage of vaccines). This independent device will turn off the refrigeration system should the control fail in cooling mode. Phone diallers, chart recorders and building management system contacts are also available for added safety.
